Decoders named according to function and position. Actual
decoder address and the cable it is on is hidden from normal
watering operations. RM-I capacity is 511 stations over
36 holes and 2 putting
greens, one chipping area and one driving range. More than one course may be controlled from the same RM-I. Each course can have different decoder types.
Six watering programs (Pl-P6) and one syringe (Sl) program.
1-63 minutes/station. Each program start can be divided into
1, 2 or 3 sucessive applications. Each program can have a
water budget of 10%-250% applied to each start. Fast and
easy definition of watering programs with graphical display
of times and precipitation.
Essentially unlimited number of starts per day. Graphical display of watering calendar showing start times and program run-times as horizontal bars. Watering calendar wraps around in 14 days. Manual start of any program in calendar. Simple manual watering of one green or Tee or Approach or Fairway.
Adjustable watering order which can be applied to each start. One preset to Greens-Tees-Approaches-Fairways the other in ‘walk-the-course’ order. Two further blank orders available. All can be
edited as needed. Pump Start relay output (240V 3A). Rain Switch and Low Water inputs (volt-free). Flow Meter input, pulsing contact (volt-free), internally debounced by RM-I.
Logging of total water used since a given date, either estimated or measured with flow meter. Logging per station of water applied, precipitation and run-time. These figures available either for last program run or totals since a given date. Logging of un-watered stations in last program run and reason for failure. Logging of all stations failed. All reports available on LCD screen or via a PC type
printer.
Maximum capacities (litres/minute) can be set for up to 4 hydraulic zones and the pump. Stations will run concurrently up to the given zone or pump hydraulic capacity. Overlapping of different run times on concurrent stations is implemented. Electrical load per station can be defined. Maximum 4 active electrical loads per cable is allowed. Long cable runs can be taken into consideration.
Diagnostics are run from the Tonick Translator’s keyboard.
Manual run of individual stations or a complete test of all
decoders on the cable. Display of cable current on the Translator’s
LCD display.
Remote control using the EICON radio control system. Remote
run of a Green, Tee, Approach or Fairway can be started or
stopped. Additional radio handsets allow two way communication
between staff. Connection from the RM-I and Translators is
by 3 core signal cable.
There is optical isolation of Translators from each other
and from the RM-I. Separation may be hundreds of metres if
signal cable is sized accordingly.
The Demi-Rain is a budget priced controller which is simple to install and operate. It controls up to 100 two-wire decoders on one, two-core irrigation cable. The decoders may be either the Tonick TW/WM series (including the Logic Aquarius) or the old Watermation Mk1.
The Demi-Rain hardware is derived from the popular Tonick Translatorallowing an easy upgrade to the Rainmaker RM-1 with its flow management and ultimately to the powerful Aquarius PC based irrigation software.
This means little loss of investment as the needs grow.
The Demi-Rain incorporates a plug-in lightning protection
unit (LPU) which guards the controller. An optional, wall-mounting
module can be connected to the field wiring. This contains
two pump relays with a staggered start and an input for
such sensors as rain or low tank level.
All the external wiring is done to substantial screw terminals
on the bases into which the modules plug. This allows easy
installation and quick servicing. In operation, a watering
program can be built from up to 100 steps, each containing
a maximum of 4 decoder (i.e. valve) numbers*. Each step can
water from 1 to 255 minutes. While the step is active, all
the decoders in the group are on, permitting a shorter overall
watering time. By assigning different decoder numbers to
steps, the order of watering can be adjusted.
Each watering program can be assigned a start time, up
to eight times each day. For each start, a watering budget
of 10% to 250% can be supplied to allow the watering time
to be varied without altering the program itself. Additionally,
each program can be split into three consecutive runs,
each one third of the time assigned, to help prevent water
run-off.
The automatic watering described is augmented by a manual start of up to four stations at a time. Finally, comprehensive diagnostics are provided to help find field wiring, decoder or solenoid problems.
The Demi-Rain combines simplicity with a level of performance way beyond that expected for its budget price. An easy upgrade path ensures little redundancy as needs grow.
