Golf Course Mapping
'Plans of your golf course
for the same cost as 12 decoders' (£499)
- The mapping is derived from stereo photography and radar elevation
measurement
- Optionally, augment the mapping with accurate positions of
sprinklers, valves, drain points,
cable & pipe runs via a simple GPS ground survey conducted
with the greenkeeper within a half-day.
A novel approach to scale drawings and colour photography of the
golf course based on aerial data provides a wealth of detail for
a fraction of the normal cost.
A good set of drawings is a real asset for helping maintenance
and when alterations are to be done. Accurate plans used to cost
thousands, but not any more! Tonick can now give you large scale
drawings containing a wealth of detail derived from the latest in
aerial photography and radar. You get a poster-sized colour photo
too! |

|
As standard we provide:
- A colour aerial photo, plan view on poster-sized glossy paper.
- A tracing to the same scale of the greens, tees, bunkers, fairways,
wooded areas, lakes, visible paths, buildings and parks. To include
green numbers, play lines and table of irrigated areas.
- A contour plot of surface elevations at 1m intervals.
Options:
- Extra text, lines and symbols added to the tracing from your
sketched-on information. For example, as-laid routes and sprinkler
positions.
- A GPS survey to accurately record positions of sprinklers,
valves, drain points, cable & pipe runs etc. Because the main
features will have been traced from the photo, this survey will
cost a fraction of a conventional ground-based one.
- Comes with disk with AutoCAD and JPEG formats
Think of how these drawings can help you!
- Reduce the cost of maintenance or alterations.
- Avoid damage to existing underground pipes and cables.
- Enable you to comply with the new water efficiency legislation.
- Reduce the design cost of greens, tees or winter water storage
lakes.
- Environmental impact studies for the Environment Agency.
- Planning applications.
- Plan can be loaded into a PC for graphical control of irrigation.
- Promotional material or a golfer’s guide from the aerial
photo.
|
| From the data, you can also get:
Water run-off models to help with environmental
impact studies or winter storage lake design. For this or additional
hydrological work, the elevation data can be included on the CDROM
in ‘ARCgrid’ and ‘XYZ ASCII’ formats.
Promotional material or gifts derived from the
photography, such as place mats, Christmas cards or golfer’s
guides.
Cut and fill calculations for the construction
of new Greens or Tees.
‘Fly’ around the course at any height
using Tonick supplied software. This can help in the concept design
of new buildings, greens and tees.
Tonick can store the data safely for a small annual
fee, in case it needs amendment, re-plotting or further processing
in the future. |
| How it works:
- You give Tonick the geographical limits of the course from
an Ordnance Survey map. How do I do that?
- From previous aerial survey data in their possession, Tonick
will submit an A1-sized colour photograph taken vertically above
the course. You then mark up Green numbers and play lines, returning
the drawing. Tonick will then incorporate your sketches, adding
tracings of Greens, Tees, Fairways, bunkers, visible paths, trees,
lakes, buildings and car parks. From this tracing data, Tonick
will then derive a table of irrigated areas.
- You may optionally add further text information and lines which
will be incorporated at modest cost; for instance, sketches of
sprinkler positions and pipe/cable runs.
- You can optionally commission a visit to accurately pinpoint
particular features using a GPS. Because the main geographical
features will already have been traced, this survey will be quick
and low-cost.
- Tonick will then incorporate the sketching or GPS data to deliver
the final translucent layers, one each for the tracing, annotations
and contours. The original photo will be reprinted on photographic
quality paper using an A1-size inkjet printer.
- Additionally, the layers and photo can be delivered in AutoCAD
compatible electronic format on CDROM.
